Bonjour from Genève! As we recently shared, we’re working to bring the experience of drone delivery to more people through demonstrations.

This week, we held a one-day demonstration of our drone delivery services in Geneva, Switzerland alongside CANSO’s Airspace World conference. It was an exciting opportunity to engage in a moment where leaders in the future of aviation are gathered together and focused on key opportunities and challenges in integrating the airspace.

As with our Lusk operations, this demonstration was facilitated by approvals, such as our partnership and approval from Finland’s Traficom, that can be recognized across EASA Member States and were recognized by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) in Switzerland. We conducted flights in a community garden after consulting with numerous local stakeholders, who we thank for their integral support of this demonstration. Our team leveraged our on-the-go drone delivery demonstration setup that allows us to pop up quickly and fly our aircraft in more places.

Wing has collaborated on a number of projects, including efforts to demonstrate UTM services and to support interoperability and automated testing, in Switzerland over the years. With this demonstration, we are excited to have conducted our first flights in the country.

This is a critical year for the future of UAS operations and shared airspace. We look forward to the next steps under the European U-space regulation and existing frameworks to increasingly share the benefits of drone delivery with more people.
