Celebrating one year of drone delivery in Logan

One year ago, we started our first drone deliveries to residents in the Logan community in Queensland, Australia. In a year that has included the devastating bushfire season in Australia, as well as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic across the world, we are grateful for all of the customers and businesses that have embraced our service.

We’ve appreciated hearing from our customers about how our contactless delivery service was helpful to get those items they needed, as well as feedback on how we can improve our service. We’re also pleased to have been able to support our local merchant partners during this time, as they adapted their operations due to COVID-19, particularly those that transitioned away from dine-in service to takeaway or delivery only. Extraction Artisan Coffee was able to keep a barista on site with Wing:

“Thanks to Wing we’ve been able to keep our barista team working during COVID-19. We’ve had instances where one customer orders, and within minutes, we receive five or six more orders to the same address after the neighbours see it. As they realise the convenience of it, everybody is going to jump onboard.”
— Alex Milosevic, Extraction Artisan Coffee

Customers in the Logan suburbs of Crestmead and Marsden can use the Wing app to order a range of goods such as, fresh bread and milk, coffee, hot roasted chickens, and hardware items, directly to their homes from nine local businesses. As COVID-19 restrictions were implemented across Queensland, customers made use of Wing’s contactless service, to mark special occasions a little differently this year:

“Over the Easter period, we were social distancing and staying at home due to the coronavirus. We ordered chocolate for delivery by Wing. No standing in line, no worrying about being sold out.”
— Francine Tyler, Wing customer in Logan

In the past 12 months, customers in Logan have:

We’ve seen a significant increase in customer demand for our drone delivery service in South East Queensland, and over the coming months we’ll be expanding our delivery area in Logan — starting with households in the suburb of Berrinba. We look forward to continuing to bring Australia’s first drone delivery service to more households in Logan.
