Thank you Canberra — one year of air delivery

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since we made our first deliveries to the Gungahlin community in Canberra, Australia. We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received from the hundreds of customers using Wing’s drone delivery service, and the valuable feedback they’ve provided.

As communities worldwide confront the current COVID-19 pandemic, we understand a delivery option that limits the need for human-to-human contact can be helpful, and we’re trying to do what we can to support the communities we serve.

Customers in north Canberra can use the Wing platform to order a range of goods such as fresh bread, hot coffee, and other household essentials, directly to homes, from 15 local businesses. While we recognise that this will be a small relief during this time, we hope it means one less trip to the shops for those small items our customers may need, and a little extra business for our local partners at a time when sales and foot traffic might be down.

Over the last year, we’ve appreciated hearing stories about how customers are using our service. From enjoying their morning coffee without having to leave the house, to getting milk and bread delivered because they forgot to pick it up in their weekly shop, customers in the Canberra suburbs of Crace, Franklin, Palmerston, and Harrison have embraced drone delivery.

We’ve been developing our drone delivery technology since 2012, and in the last year we’ve seen the amazing ways people are accessing goods they need through the air, when they need them.

The valuable feedback we continue to receive from customers and the community is shaping the future of drone delivery, not just in Canberra, but across the world as we expand to more communities in Australia, Finland, and the United States.
